Eyolfur, een lid van de officiële Cyanide Community, kwam onlangs met een nieuw idee op de proppen. Hij is namelijk van plan om alle informatie over db's te verzamelen en deze in één grote databank te plaatsen. Hierdoor zouden het aantal bugs in iedere database moeten afnemen, omdat alle fouten overzichtelijk in de databank vermeld worden. Ook zou er op alle fora steeds een up-to-date db beschikbaar moeten zijn, en zal je de keuze krijgen om met een db te spelen die er op het ogenblik van een bepaalde wedstrijd (vb. Tour de France 2008) was. Het systeem zal het ook makkelijker maker voor mensen die graag met stats werken, want dankzij de databank zal er een duidelijk overzicht beschikbaar zijn over de prestaties van renners gedurende een bepaalde tijd. Het project staat wel nog maar in zijn kinderschoenen, m.a.w. het is nog niet zeker of dit idee er ooit komt. Het project zou rond de periode van de release van PCM 2009 beschikbaar moeten zijn. I'm preparing a new project for the Database section, which aims to gather all PCM databases. The objective is to create a banque of data which will allow to make the database edition easier for everyone. Currently, everyone make its own DB alone and fix problems alone and in some DB there are finition problems and lots of bugs. By gathering all data in a common base, any project could start with a stronger base than starting from zero. Let's details the adavantages of the project :

PCM-Live DB

Some people may know the Season Live mode in Fifa2009, which allows players to play with an "always up-to-date DB", by weekly refreshing the DB in function of real life results. It may be interesting to have an "always up-to-date DB" in PCM too, and this is possible with the project. At any time, it will be possible to download the latest uptodate DB, based on the community member's notations (obviously, with a certain control.). Another possibility will be to download a DB of a certain period (e.g a DB Tour de France 2008).

Riders evolution

The notation of every rider will change frequently with the time, and by dating all the notation, it will be possible to follow the evolution of one rider along years and months. That will help a lot for the characs evolution.

Different kind of notations

Some DB are based on different kind of notations, e.g the ElectroZenshuDB. It has been predicted to avoid unexpected gaps between two notation style. We will only compare characs with characs from the same notation system.

Graphical Elements bank

Some graphical elements like jersey, minijersey or frames will be available on the website too. The creators will be able to forbid the distribution of their own production, reserve it for some community or share it on demand.


Communities

Communities will certainly have their "own DB", and that's why any member account may be affiliated to a community. That way, it will be possible to download a DB with the notations of a single community.

Data control

The stability of one DB is often not so good due to ID problems or errors. Some controls will be done to help anyone to create a reliable DB. I can't promise to create a cdb directly from the website, but at least a XML-Full Editor compatible.

At the moment the project is still at the beginning. It should be available for the PCM2009 release, even though the website will be totally independent of Cyanide. However, it will be compatible with PCM2008 DBs and PCM2009 DBs.
The project has to be taken as a Community project, made by the community for the community.
